Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide supervision and perform administrative tasks in food production and meal service. The work of this position may involve providing nutritional care services to the students of John L. Gildner-RICA and the Noyes Children Center.  In addition to overseeing and managing the operations of Dietary Services, this position will also oversee and manage the administration of the Federal Child Nutrition Program - National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year experience managing large-scale food service operations in an institutional, commercial, industrial or similar organization.

Notes: 1. Additional experience supervising in a large-scale food service operation may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Food Services Officers classifications or Food Services Manager and Services Officer specialty codes in the food service management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired applicant will be ServSafe certified and have experience managing and directing food service programs that include menu planning, procuring food and the preparation and serving of meals.  The desired applicant will also have experience supervising professional food service workers.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in, and therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
