Main Purpose of Job

This position will function and perform the full level of work for Fiscal Accounts Technician II.  Reconcile and update corresponding special and daily reports, and compile data for fiscal and upper management’s use for monthly analysis. Reconcile agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems; develop, update and implement automated spreadsheets and ledgers to complete audit reports as required. Review and research Federal, State and Local reports concentrating on developing solutions for problematic cases where funds have not been released or distributed in accordance with Federally mandated programs that apply to the State. This position must effectively communicate by telephone, in writing and/or in personal with supervisors and other personnel in other local departments to meet the Agency’s objectives. At all times, the incumbent will provide customer service to both internal and external customs that meets or exceeds the standards set by the Department.

POSITION DUTIES

Reconciles and update corresponding special and daily reports, and compile data for fiscal and upper management's use for monthly analysis.

Reviews and analyze financial data from bank documents-voided checks, bank charges etc. to input data into automated spreadsheet and update budget spreadsheets and other fiscal reports utilized by agency's management staff.

Reconciles agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems.

Develops, update and implement automated spreadsheets and ledgers to complete audit reports as required.

Summarizes financial data for special reports to determine if cases are out of compliance.

Performs accounts maintenance functions which includes; preparing adjustments to reconcile account information in fiscal systems; reallocate payments to the appropriate accounts etc.

Performs time keeper functions in Workday system  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualifications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

1) Three months or more experience in using in any one of the following FMIS/RSTARS /AFS/CHESSIE/ CARES, for accounting processes or Workday for time keeping. 

2) Six months or more experience in utilizing Microsoft Office suite applications; Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

3) Six months or more experience in setting up and maintaining spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel application.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
