MPT internships offer a thorough introduction to Maryland Public Television including our mission and expectations. Maryland Public Television is committed to providing solid work experience to serious minded individuals in a positive environment.

All MPT internships are unpaid. An internship that is not for academic credit is deemed a volunteer.

Maryland Public Television offers full-time and part-time internships for college students throughout the year. Internships are specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in public broadcasting.

The intern will learn all aspects of program production, including but not limited to researching, logging, learning the process of production and the paperwork involved. Position may involve light clerical duties as well as driving. Candidate MUST have excellent driving record and should have an interest in cars. Intern may be able to participate in studio and field shoots as well as edit and audio sessions. Candidate MUST have excellent communication and organizational skills. Candidate MUST have a flexible schedule and be able to travel.

Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria:

Students must be a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate of a college, university, or trade school who must be able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week and have reliable transportation.

Required Documents:  Please submit a cover letter, unofficial transcript, resume and a letter from your school indicating the internship is for academic credit. If your interest is not for academic credit, but for experience only, please indicate that information in your cover letter and submit a professional reference from an advisor, instructor or employer.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.

Preferred Majors: Visual Performing Arts, Video Film Emphasis, Mass Communication, Radio, TV, Film

Interns will be evaluated based upon information submitted via this online application process and may be invited to interview.
