Piedmont Technical College
will conduct a Special Training Program for:
Samsung Electronics America, Inc.
The Newberry, SC facility will produce washing machines and other home appliances.

Material Handler
The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring product parts and supplies are readily available for our production lines and other support areas.
Job Responsibilities:

Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.

Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.

Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.

Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.

Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.

Other responsibilities as assigned by management; job duties may change at any time with or without notice

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read and write in English or to communicate in American Sign Language
- The ability to stand up for 8 to 10 hours a day, plus additional overtime as needed
- Available to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
- Flexible work availability and able to work overtime as needed with same-day notice
- The ability to bend, stoop, grip, reach and lift up to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis
- The ability to pass a drug test and background check
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions
- Minimum 2 years of related/relevant work experience, such as driving a fork lift or tugger
Preferred/Desired:
- Need to be able to work in a fast paced, high-speed environment and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
- Experience in manufacturing environment is a plus
- Proficient with the use of shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders and welders
- The ability to work with components that are in constant motion along an assembly line without adverse effects
- The ability to work on a team of co-workers in close proximity to each other
- The ability to make timely decisions and provide feedback to each other
- Have a strong desire for personal and professional development
- Valid drivers’ license
- Fork lift certification/license
Starting wage of $14.75. Samsung offers a comprehensive benefits package.
