Nature Of Work

An employee in this class is responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling work activities of multi-skilled work teams and contractors to provide cost effective maintenance of wastewater treatment processes, related systems and infrastructures. Employee ensures availability of required equipment and resources. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks of more than average difficulty requiring the exercise of reasonable initiative and independent judgment. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results obtained.

Examples of Duties

Plans work activities for work teams; identifies planned work activities; prioritizes, schedules, and coordinates resources; coordinates work and training needs with team leaders, training coordinator, support groups and leadership.

Assists with providing sustained, dynamic, and cost effective management of treatment processes and related plant equipment.

Establishes performance measures, which monitor and provide feedback on the effectiveness of planned maintenance work processes.

Establishes long range, strategic planning procedures and effective coordination of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) resources; coordinates weekly and monthly planning meetings.

Implements strategic, cost effective, long range planning procedures.

Ensures availability of required equipment; stages equipment for planned work; prepares requisitions for procurement; acquires materials with credit card; coordinates with procurement specialist on high dollar purchases; coordinates repair and maintenance of equipment with work teams, contractors and vendors; prepares budget recommendations for equipment and services.

Maintains effective communication and coordination of resources between O&M work teams, contractors, vendors and leadership team.

Monitors inventory for treatment processes and establishes criticality ratings for related equipment and infrastructures.

Manages activities utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); reviews and approves work orders for scheduling; prepares and distributes monthly forecast reports; prepares end of month performance reports; monitors and analyzes backlog for scheduling; maintains CMMS database; organizes and categorizes workload backlog requirements.

Evaluates the following: number of backlogged work orders at beginning of month; percentage of scheduled work orders completed (end of month report); ratio of planned versus corrective; number of monthly forecast reports completed per year; average time to complete work order by category.

Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced knowledge of: division process; CMMS, SCADA, etc

Intermediate knowledge of: equipment maintenance requirements; resources.

Desirable knowledge of: predictive maintenance systems; inventory system; purchasing system; city budget process.

Advanced ability to: organize.

Intermediate ability to: interpret contract specifications.

Basic ability to: gather and analyze data to make recommendations.

Advanced skill in: computers (Access, Excel, Word, reporting software); records keeping.

Intermediate skill in: communication; human relations.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or GED and five (5) years of experience working with a CMMS system scheduling work orders and projects for an industrial facility or major utility.  This CMMS experience should include aspects of procurement, inventory and performance tracking; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  The successful applicant will have strong computer skills to include spreadsheet, word processor and  database experience.  Knowledge of Crystal Reports a plus.

 

Licenses or Certifications

Possession of a valid drivers license is required.
