Reviews system designs, specifications and products; recommends changes in plant, pumping stations or bridge instrumentation and control systems; reads electrical prints and instrumentation and control diagrams; performs operability reviews of processes, products and plant facilities as related to instrumentation and control systems, including all types of programmable logic controllers, networking equipment, analyzers, gauges, control loops, I/O devices, remote terminal units, level measuring equipment, pneumatic operated equipment, etc.; attends pre-construction meetings for plant additions, expansion and modification.
Monitors, reviews and validates work for quality control assurance of wide-ranging instrumentation and control repair practices; writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to wide-ranging instrumentation control practices; works with outside vendors on instrumentation and control systems; provides expertise with respect to programmable logic controllers, networking equipment, analyzers, gauges, control loops, I/O devices, remote terminal units, level measuring equipment, pneumatic operated equipment, etc; trains and assesses the performance of AWT technicians.
Troubleshoots complex problems in instrumentation and control systems, and networking systems; gathers and interprets historical data from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and other sources; interprets data and provides recommendations; reads, modifies and analyzes programs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); interprets and analyzes general instrumentation programs; identifies recurring and complex problems and recommends corrective actions; recognizes and identifies trends in instrumentation and control systems; performs failure and root cause analysis.
Maintains and reviews technical reports, records and library; reads prints, schematics and control diagrams; conducts research utilizing a wide variety of sources; recommends corrective actions based on knowledge of wide-ranging instrumentation control repair practices, new technologies and products; writes reports to leadership including information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written or modified.
Performs related work as required.
Advanced knowledge of: industrial instrumentation and control systems and products; radio based telemetry systems including set up an d troubleshooting of systems; divisional operational systems; all types of PLCs, networking equipment, analyzers, gauges, control loops, I/O devices, remote terminal units, level measuring equipment, pneumatic operated equipment, etc.; wide-ranging instrumentation and control repair practices.
Intermediate knowledge of: equipment interface; control system processes; construction; job related safety practices including electrical safety; time management; instrumentation programming; CMMS and SCADA systems; new technologies and products.
Basic knowledge of: AutoCAD.
Advanced ability to: read electrical prints, schematics, and instrumentation and control diagrams; evaluate and assess the performance of AWT technicians; recognize and identify trends in instrumentation and control system; conduct research utilizing a wide variety of resources; utilize written communication in an effective manner.
Intermediate ability to: review contractual agreements; compile, retrieve, analyze, and compare operational reports; gather and interpret historical data from SCADA, CMMS, and other sources; read, modify, write, and analyze programs for PLCs; interpret and analyze general instrumentation programs.
Advanced skill in: communications; technical writing.
Intermediate skill in: use of computers (Access, Excel, Word); interpersonal relations.
Accountabilities: no more than 64 hours of undocumented sick hours used per year; 75% of design specification and product reviews done in agreed upon time; provide periodic reports to leadership that would include information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written, or modified; works on tasks requested by team leaders and provides solutions; provides solutions to technical problems that are agreed upon with related parties.
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
