Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the operation and administration of the OLETS message switching system, audits of telecommunications procedures used by local, state, and federal law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, providing technical and administrative support to OLETS, or similar duties and responsibilities.
The Law Enforcement Telecommunications System Specialist job family consists of five levels which are distinguished by the type and complexity of work and the responsibility assigned for the supervision of others.
This is the specialist level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities involving advanced level technical work in the operation or maintenance of equipment in the OLETS message switching system, audits of telecommunications procedures used by local, state, and federal law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, providing technical and administrative support to OLETS, or similar duties and responsibilities. This may also include responsibility for providing technical supervision, training, or assistance to other Telecommunications Specialists in completing assigned duties and responsibilities.
Education and experience requirements at this level consist of six years of experience as a telecommunications dispatcher in a law enforcement telecommunications system or as a network specialist in a data communications system or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the completion of six hours of computer science coursework for each year of the required experience with a maximum substitution of 18 semester hours.
