Position located at Oklahoma School for the Deaf, ED & Rec - Sulphur
Position recruitment runs from 2/12/2013 until filled

The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for this position.  The school provides a full-range of educational and related services for Oklahoma youth that are deaf or hearing impaired from the time of identification through 21 years of age.

Essential Functions: This position is responsible for planning learning experiences utilizing school curriculum, Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals and objectives, other appropriate materials, and activities. Other duties include preparing lesson plans and reports; record student behavior and attitude necessary for an orderly and productive classroom environment; ascertain learning needs of students; establish evaluation techniques for assessment of progress; and participation in extracurricular activities.

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience:  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education of the Deaf, State of Oklahoma Teacher’s Certificate or qualifications to meet certification. Prefer Masters Degree. An expressive and receptive sign language skill with fluency in American Sign Language is preferred.

Salary:  Annual salary is commensurate with education and years of experience; Bachelor’s degree: $33,180.00 to $44,441.00, Master’s degree:  $34,440.00 to $46,147.00.  Employees are provided paid health, dental, life and retirement benefits as well as an option to participate in the State’s tax-deferred annuity program.  This will be a 180-day per year, contracted position.
